The First Encounter

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, Encounter Church opened its doors for the first time.

We met in the Enrich Event space, which, fittingly, was still a construction site in progress. And somehow, that felt just right. Like the space we were worshiping in, we too were being built—a church under construction, laying a foundation of faith, hope, and community.

With joyful hands and expectant hearts, we hauled in every piece of equipment, unfolded every chair, wiped off every surface covered with dust and prepared the room not just for people, but for a move of God. The smell of fresh coffee filled the air, mingling with the sound of conversation and anticipation. We didn’t have everything polished and perfect, but we had everything we needed—obedience, unity, and trust in what God was doing.

Revolution Ministries, a youth-led worship team passionate about proclaiming the good news through music, led us in powerful praise. They sang anthems from Hillsong United, Elevation Worship, and Cory Asbury, including the moving declaration of the “reckless love of God.” As their voices echoed through the unfinished walls, the presence of God filled the room in a way that words can’t fully capture.

Tears were shed. Hands were lifted. Hearts were opened. And as we worshiped, we were overwhelmed with thanksgiving and humility. It became clear—this church wasn’t launched by human hands alone. The story of Encounter Church is undeniably a testimony of God’s faithfulness and timing.

Starting a church from scratch is never easy. It’s messy, uncertain, and requires deep dependence on the Lord. But looking around that room on our first Sunday, we saw the fruit of faith—and it was beautiful. Families worshiping together, new friendships forming, and the unmistakable sense that God is doing something new and good.

That first Sunday was more than just a service. It was a marker in the journey, a moment that reminded us of why we said yes. It was a reminder that Encounter Church is not built on hype or trends, but on the unshakable love and truth of Jesus Christ.

We’ll never forget that day. And we’ll never stop giving God the glory for it.

Here’s to what He’s building still.
