Made New
We are overjoyed to celebrate the baptism of 10-year-old Callie Brown, a beautiful moment that took place at Encounter Church! Baptism is always a powerful and sacred experience, and Callie’s decision to publicly declare her faith in Jesus Christ was a true testament to God’s work in her young life.
Callie’s baptism was made even more special by the presence of her family. Her Aunt Jodie had the honor of helping to baptize her, creating a memory the two will cherish forever. And as Callie rose from the waters, her grandparents, Dennis and Nancy Brown, were waiting with open arms, ready to embrace her.
Before she stepped into the water, Callie was presented with a special “Made New” t-shirt to wear during her baptism—an outward reminder of the inward change that takes place when we follow Jesus.
Before Callie was submerged, Pastor Jamie took a moment to ask Callie to look around at the church family surrounding her. He reminded her that this community will now be with her for the rest of her journey of faith, saying: “This is a community of people you have now. You will never walk alone.”
Pastor Jamie had just shared a sermon about the story of Jesus being baptized by John in the Jordan River, when the heavens opened up and God’s voice declared:
“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17 NIV)
He reminded Callie that, just as the Father spoke those words over Jesus, God speaks His love and delight over her as His beloved child.
Callie’s baptism was a joyful, Spirit-filled moment for our entire church family. Her courage and commitment to follow Jesus at such a young age inspire us all to live with the same wholehearted devotion.
Callie, we are so proud of you! Your Encounter Church family will be praying for you and cheering you on every step of the way. You are loved, you are His, and you will never walk alone. You have truly been made new.
